The Video Store MPLS loves physical media donations! When you donate your movies, you’re helping us grow and you turn your purchase into a community resource.
DVD & Blu-ray donations are the gold standard for us.
What about 4K? I mean, we’ll happily take em! And as we grow, we’ll aim to have 4K/UHD versions of as many titles as possible. But for now, DVDs and Blu-rays are just fine.
How about VHS? Some titles were only ever released on VHS and we would absolutely love to have those. But if Blu-ray or DVD is available, that’s what we prefer for archival reasons.
All donated titles need to be commercially issued (no dupes!), in good working condition and should come in cases with the original artwork/sleeve.
All donated titles become the property of The Video Store MPLS and we reserve the right to sell, trade, recycle, or dispose of items as needed. All efforts are made to use every donation to benefit The Video Store MPLS’s ever-growing cinema library.
HOW TO DONATE:

If your donation is a sizable one and you’re in or near the Twin Cities metro, we’re happy to arrange a pick-up.
If you’d prefer to mail your donation, we can give you a mailing address for that. We encourage you to use USPS media mail for affordable shipping rates!
BUT WAIT. WE HAVE MORE THINGS TO SAY:
If you represent a filmmaker, film distributor and/or boutique label and would like to donate your titles, we already love you. Please reach out to us.
We DO accept donations of emerging work on any physical format!
Will we take Blu-ray and DVD players? Sure! As long as the the player is in working condition and includes all necessary parts (remote, power cord, etc).

Money. We will definitely need your help with this. BUT NOT QUITE YET.
On August 1st, 2026 we’ll launch our 30-day Kickstarter, during which we’ll try to raise tens of thousands of dollars so we can open a brick-and-mortar space. It’s gonna be a big, make-or-break moment and we’ll absolutely need your support once it goes live.
What can you do until then?
SPREAD THE WORD. Please tell everyone you know that we exist, that the fundraiser is coming and to please plan to donate when the time comes.
